On 26 May 2002, precipitation moves over southern Oklahoma. Near the beginning of data collection,
convective cells are embedded in stratiform precipitation (e.g., Figs. 1-4; 10:02-13:54 UTC),
whereas later only stratiform precipitation occurs (e.g., Figs. 5-8; 14:30-17:21 UTC).
Polarimetric data indicate a well-defined bright band, or
region of mixed hydrometeor types, within the stratiform precipitation (Figs. 5-8).
Radar Operations:
Start time: 10:02 5/26/02 UTC (05:02 5/26/02 local time)
Stop time: 17:21 5/26/02 UTC (12:21 5/26/02 local time)
Radar/Operational Status:
Radar: The PRF is changed between 13:54 and 14:30 UTC, resulting in an increase in the radial
distance for data collection (cf. Figs. 1-4 and 5-8).
Hydrometeor Classification Algorithm: Cold season
Operational Delivery:
Not applicable.
