On October 6 2002, several groups of convective cells developed over central Oklahoma. First,
a short line of cells moved from west to east just north of KOUN (12:34-16:08 UTC). Second, small isolated
cells developed w/in the KOUN clutter field (16:08-18:09 UTC). Third, convective cells developed just
southwest of KOUN and moved across the southern part of the KOUN clutter field (19:38-22:34 UTC).
Following the movement of these cells away from KOUN, biological scatterers are prevalent
around KOUN (22:49-00:32 UTC). Examples of polarimetric signatures for convective cells w/in KOUN's ground
clutter field are shown below. These signatures significantly help one differentiate between weather and
non-weather echo.
